Just as many of you were excited for the May 20th announcement, where we speculated that a Surface Mini and the Surface Pro 3 were to be announced. That day comes and we prepare ourselves to be wowed with what Microsoft has to show us. Tun in to your local live blog folks its going to be an exciting ride. The ride is over now and a release date is set in the press event; June 20th, 2014 for the release of the Surface Pro 3. Thirty days, that is not so bad, we think to ourselves. Pre-orders began on May 21st at 12:01:00 AM EST. We go to the site to pre-order the 512GB i7 model. What do we see but the release date for the majority of the Surface Pro 3’s is August 31st later this year. Whaaat…? This cant be right, maybe it is a glitch, so we go ahead and order the Surface Pro 3 512GB and hope that the release will be updated after someone mentions the error to Microsoft.

A day goes by and no change. This seems quite odd for the company who is touting that the Surface Pro 3 is a competitor to the MacBook Air. By the time Apple has announced what they have planned and start selling the new and refreshed MacBook Air lineup Microsoft will already be lagging behind in sales. No one wants to keep a standing pre-order for 3 months for $2200+. It seems as if Microsoft is going to work themselves into a deficit again in Surface sales revenue by going after the staggered release again. We will not be keeping our pre-order for the Surface Pro 3 unless the timeline gets matched with the 2 out of 5 Surface Pro 3 lineup products. I am not sure about the rest of you and your thoughts on the staggered release but make sure to comment in the section below and let us know your thoughts. Until the next article, Happy Hacking!
